Chapter Newsletter
Our Vice President of Public Relations, with the assistance of the Public Relations committee, creates a monthly chapter newsletter that includes information such as current chapter projects, member achievements, and upcoming alumni events. The newsletter is made available on the chapter website for members, alumni, members’ parents, and National Headquarters to read.
News Releases
The Vice President of Public Relations uses a news release template to customize for each press release so all materials sent to media are uniform. An attractive lead is key to gaining the attention of the media, which will subsequently lead to further media recognition. We follow up with the media outlet after the release is sent to ensure that it was received.
Media Coverage Tips
- Persistence is key. Even if the news release does not get printed, don’t be discouraged- keep the media in the loop with what’s going on with the chapter.
- Utilize various sources of media exposure, not just newspapers. Look into creating a bulletin board in an academic building to post chapter news or creating messages to place on university television or radio stations.
- Try to have your events published in your university’s calendar.
